Life beyond projects
I am a design engineer at Imperial College London, where the course sits right on the line between industrial design and engineering. That suits how I like to work: moving between a sketch, a CAD model, a simulation and a soldering iron in the same afternoon, and caring as much about why a product should exist as how it is made.
At Imperial, I'm an academic rep for STEM Muslims, helping Muslims in my course by running workshops and events. I'm also a mechanic in our University's Eco Marathon team.
Away from work, I love go karting, climbing and archery. I love aircraft- the engineering, sounds, smell of jet fuel, and even just being on a plane. Quite often I help book work trips and holidays for people. Eventually, I would love to go for a PPL or even an ATPL. Rock climbing is fun with friends- good way to get outside, but I've also realised it helps with problem solving. Discussing the best routes together, trying different techniques and placements. Other than that, you can catch me at car meets, playing with cats, watching some movies at home or playing some games snug in my setup.
